Barcelona's draw against Getafe Gives Supports Real Madrid on LaLiga Race

Home

Barcelona was restricted to a scoreless La Liga draw against Getafe as they failed to score for the third game in a row.

Alejandro Balde and Raphinha both struck the post in rapid succession during the first half, preventing Barca from scoring.

The draw on Sunday comes after a goalless draw on Monday against Girona and a 4-0 Copa del Rey loss to Real Madrid.

With nine league games left, Barcelona leads Madrid by 11 points despite their scoring problems.

On minute 25, the visitors had a one-on-one opportunity after a goal kick from Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but Raphinha's shot hit the inside of the post, falling to Balde, whose mishit attempt bounced back off the same post.

Raphinha also came close for the visitors after the half, but Getafe goalkeeper David Soria palmed his shot away with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Midway through the first half, Sergi Roberto suffered a hamstring injury and had to be replaced by Barca manager Xavi.

The following week, they play host to Atletico Madrid, whose 2-1 home success over Almeria on Sunday gave Diego Simeone's team their sixth consecutive league triumph.

Atletico Madrid went back to third place in the Champions League qualifying race, two points behind Real Madrid and 12 points ahead of fifth place thanks to two goals from Antoine Griezmann.
